MCPON 17 Releases Refined Guidance to the Chiefs Mess
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) John Perryman releases refinements to the Chief Petty Officer Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles, reinforcing expectations for senior enlisted leadership across the Navy.
The updated guidance builds on the established expectations of the Chiefs Mess while aligning its principles with the Navy's current Chief Petty Officer evaluation framework of competence, character and culture. It emphasizes technical and institutional expertise, leadership, professionalism and accountability.
“These principles reflect what I expect from our senior enlisted leaders,” said Perryman. “Know your profession, uphold our standards, develop our Sailors and lead by example. Use them to assess your leadership, hold each other accountable and keep getting better.”
