WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, October 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Maola Local Dairies® donated a tractor trailer load of fresh milk, or 3,825 gallons, to the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) to help provide nutritious milk to families facing hunger across the Greater Washington, D.C. region. The donation came as part of an event held by the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) Foundation which brought dairy industry leaders together for a morning of volunteer service to CAFB.

Maola® team members joined a volunteer service event at the food bank, packing senior food bags for distribution through its community network. The donation and volunteer effort reflect Maola’s commitment to supporting the communities it serves and helping make wholesome dairy products more accessible.

Maola's donation of 3,825 gallons of milk will provide more than 61,000 eight-ounce servings of nutritious dairy to families served by the food bank.

Food insecurity continues to affect a significant portion of households across the region. According to the CAFB’s 2026 Hunger Report, 38% of households in the Washington, D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region experienced food insecurity in the past year, while approximately one in three children in the region experienced food insecurity.

“As a farmer-owned cooperative and local dairy brand, Maola believes nutritious milk should be within reach for every family,” said Roddy Purser, Interim CEO of Maola Local Dairies. “We are proud to support the Capital Area Food Bank and grateful to our employees and partners who helped deliver fresh milk to neighbors who need it. Caring for our communities is central to who we are and how we put our values into action.”
