New leadership, policies highlight AMCOM town hall

REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. — The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command entered a new operational chapter Sept. 23, 2026, when the workforce gathered at Bob Jones Auditorium for a commandwide town hall.

Led by AMCOM Executive Director Donald Nitti and Command Sgt. Maj. Christopher Doss, the briefing outlined critical changes affecting the daily operations, security compliance and performance timelines of its workforce.

The town hall opened with the official introduction of two senior leaders stepping into pivotal roles within the front office. Col. Chad P. Corrigan was welcomed as the new AMCOM chief of staff and Col. Timothy L. Woodruff officially assumed responsibilities as the deputy chief of staff for operations, plans and training, or G-3/5. Nitti and Doss emphasized that these leadership additions will be vital in steering AMCOM’s strategic support to Army aviation and missile systems worldwide.

With a focus on streamlining administrative overhead, leadership rolled out critical directive updates. To increase organizational agility, AMCOM is implementing compressed timelines for the fiscal year 2026 performance appraisal cycles in Defense Department civilian personnel systems, including DPMAP, AcqDemo and DCIPS. Command leaders urged employees to note the accelerated deadlines for self-assessments, performance plans and supervisor reviews throughout October and November.

The command also announced operational policy updates designed to standardize administrative workflows. Effective Oct. 1, an updated reasonable accommodation procedure mandates that all major or long-duration requests, such as regular telework extending beyond six months or adjustments to essential job functions, must receive formal review and approval from a general officer or Senior Executive Service member. While first-line supervisors maintain the authority to manage minor, short-term adjustments and process standard denials, Dynetta Jones-Ayers, director of the AMCOM Equal Employment Opportunity Office and her staff stand ready to guide personnel through the updated process.

Another major initiative discussed was the implementation of "Trusted Workforce 2.0." This program introduces a continuous-vetting model for all federal employees and contractors, not only those with security clearances. The system continuously scans various data sources and mandates self-reporting of key life events to ensure a trustworthy workforce. The rollout is phased, beginning with moderate-risk positions in fiscal year 2026.
Command-level awards were also a highlight of the session. Lora J. Hardman, director of security for the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft program, received the Louis Dellamonica Award for Outstanding U.S. Army Materiel Command Personnel of the Year. Additionally, the AMC Hall of Fame welcomed two new inductees for the class of 2026, honoring William L. Braddy and Sammy Burns for their lasting impact on the command.

Looking ahead, the command announced upcoming events, including the Association of the United States Army Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., and the Army Aviation Association of America Cribbins Futures Forum in Huntsville, Alabama. A schedule of workshops focused on knowledge management, data analytics and the Army Vantage data platform was also shared, underscoring AMCOM's commitment to continuous learning.

Nitti and Doss left the workforce with a unifying message, reminding employees that their daily efforts directly impact national defense and thanking them for their dedicated service.
