Dr. Pierce believes that local jurisdictions, elected school board members, and parents should make those decisions for their students.

Local officials and parents know their children and communities the best.”

— Dr. Bud Pierce, Oncologist and Candidate for Oregon Governor

SALEM, OR, UNITED STATES, July 31, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Republican candidate for Oregon Governor, Dr. Bud Pierce criticized Kate Brown for overreaching with her mask mandate for K-12 students. Dr. Pierce believes that local jurisdictions, elected school board members, and parents should make those decisions for their students.

On July 29, Brown released a statement directing the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Department of Education to create a rule that requires masks indoors for students in the upcoming school year.

Dr. Pierce has been a strong advocate for vaccinations and has carefully followed the science. He has repeatedly said that our children “should return to an in-class learning environment.”

In response to the mandate, Dr. Pierce said, “Science has demonstrated that children are resilient if they contract COVID-19. The two-shot vaccines have demonstrated a 99.9% effectiveness rate in preventing COVID-19 infection in immunized adults. I have many concerns about Gov. Brown creating this mandate, at this time, for every student in the state. We need to trust our local elected officials and parents. We should not have our children learning in a fear-based environment.”

Not all communities have the same level of risk. Dr. Pierce believes that regulations should be based on actual vaccination rates, the number of students in a given school district, and the area’s population size.

“Local officials and parents know their children and communities the best. A COVID-19 safety plan driven by local officials increases community buy-in and more accurately reflects a community’s actual safety needs,” Dr. Pierce said.

Dr. Pierce added, “My concern is that the Governor will put the burden on teachers to be ‘mask enforcers’ instead of educators. Governor Brown has failed to provide clear leadership, consistent messaging, and practical advice throughout this entire pandemic.”

Khomeini’s fatwa: any political prisoners who “remain steadfast in their support for the MEK are waging war on God and are condemned to execution.”

Ebrahim Raisi, the man who had been appointed to lead the Judiciary in 2019 by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, as part of an ongoing series of rewards for those who helped to carry out the 1988 massacre.”

— NCRI

PARIS, FRANCE, July 31, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), reported that on June 18, the Iranian regime appointed a notorious violator of human rights as its next president. Ebrahim Raisi has played a key role in a historic massacre of political prisoners, serving on the “death commission” tasked with implementing then Supreme leader Rohullah Khomeini’s fatwa against the main opposition, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

The MEK was the prime target of the massacre between July and September of 1988, and it comprised the overwhelming majority of 30,000 political prisoners who were massacred during that period.

The death toll has naturally never been confirmed by Iranian authorities. Indeed, they have made every effort to cover up the details of the massacre in the ensuing three decades, by paving over and building upon the mass graves in which many victims are secretly interred. But contemporary evidence, including communications among the regime officials, make the MEK’s own estimates inherently plausible.

On July 31, 1988, with the massacre in full swing, Hossein Ali Montazeri, then the heir to the supreme leader, wrote to Khomeini in order to protest the indiscriminate nature of the killings, both on moral grounds and on the grounds that continuing along that path would inevitably foster greater resentment against the clerical regime both at home and abroad. In that letter, Montazeri appealed to the supreme leader to at least direct death commissions to “spare women with children.” He then suggested that in absence of such restraint, the effects of the ongoing proceedings could include “the execution of several thousand prisoners in a few days.”

This appears to be exactly what happened in the wake of Khomeini’s decision to ignore the first letter and then reply to a follow-up by writing only, “I am religiously responsible for the said verdict. You should not be concerned. May God obliterate every one of the MEK.” This remark was hardly more extreme than the language of the fatwa itself, which decreed that any political prisoners who “remain steadfast in their support for the MEK are waging war on God and are condemned to execution.”

The fatwa concluded by stating that it is “naïve to show mercy” to its targets and that the bodies tasked with carrying out the executions “must not hesitate, nor show any doubt or be concerned about details” of the decree’s implementation. This point was reiterated in Khomeini’s reply to an early request for clarification from Chief Justice Moussavi Ardebili.

Whereas the head of the judiciary questioned whether capital punishment should be meted out to persons who had already received lesser sentences and had committed no further crime, the supreme leader merely commanded Ardebili to “annihilate the enemies of Islam immediately,” then declared that in each individual case, the judiciary’s procedure should be whatever most “speeds up the implementation of the verdict.”

Khomeini’s letters to Ardebili and Montazeri directly contradict the descriptions of the proceedings that some Iranian officials have offered in recent years. In an interview with Fars News on August 4, 2016, for instance, a judiciary official named Ali Razini insisted that all of the executions were justified not just on the basis of the defendants’ membership in the MEK but also on the basis of unspecified crimes.

While Razini acknowledged that many prisoners were executed in the summer of 1988 after serving out lesser sentences, he proceeded to claim that all of them were guilty of “new crimes” either committed while in prison or committed earlier and discovered after the fact.

By all accounts, most regime authorities believed that any statement or the mere suggestion of continued support for the MEK was, in effect, a “new crime.” In one of his letters from the time of the massacre, Montazeri pointed out that some political prisoners had been asked to condemn the MEK and to affirm their willingness to fight in the war with Iraq, and had complied in both cases.

But some were then confronted with follow-up questions about whether they would be willing to walk through minefields on behalf of the supreme leader. Anything less than enthusiastic acceptance of that scenario was generally deemed to be evidence that the subject was still holding onto MEK political beliefs, and was grounds for execution.

In July 2017, Ali Fallahian, Iran’s Intelligence Minister in the period immediately following the massacre, gave an interview with state television in which he defended other, similarly arbitrary statements and behaviors that were deemed by the death commissions to be justification for capital punishment.

When challenged by the interviewer about whether anyone had been killed simply for being in possession of a MEK newspaper at the time of their arrest, Fallahian proudly answered in the affirmative. Such reading material, he explained, meant that the person in question was “part of that organization” and thus part of the population targeted by the fatwa.

The former Intelligence Minister went on to say that even buying bread to share with MEK activists could be grounds for execution. Such statements should leave no doubt about the fact that the 1988 massacre was specifically intended to wipe out the country’s leading Resistance group in its entirety. Then again, there should never have been any doubt on this point, since that intention was made clear by the fatwa itself, and especially by Khomeini’s follow-ups to it.

Even though the regime has attempted to cover-up the details of the massacre, officials have never been overly cautious about acknowledging its true intentions. Whatever caution they did hold seems to have evaporated since 2016, the year Montazeri’s son released an audio recording of the late ayatollah’s 1988 conversation with the members of the “death commission”, in which he condemned their participation in the “worst crime of the Islamic Republic.”

In August of that year, an official statement by the regime’s Assembly of Experts praised Khomeini’s fatwa for being “decisive and uncompromising” and for supposedly bringing the MEK “to the brink of complete annihilation.” Mostafa Pourmohammadi, then Iran’s Justice Minister and a former member of the death commissions himself, told state media that it was “God’s command” for the MEK to be executed and that those who carried out the mass killings were “proud” to do so.

The following month, the fatwa’s assertion that MEK members were “enemies of God” was reiterated by Ahmad Jannati, the head of the Guardian Council. Religious duty, he argued, “commands that we amputate their hands and legs, exile them, hang them.”

The Guardian Council would go on, in 2021, to exercise its vetting power in order to remove all viable candidates for the Iranian presidency other than Ebrahim Raisi, the man who had been appointed to lead the Judiciary in 2019 by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, as part of an ongoing series of rewards for those who helped to carry out the 1988 massacre.

Raisi’s ascension to the presidency reinforces the culture of impunity surrounding the 1988 massacre and other crimes against humanity, but it also threatens to bring even more attention to the massacre than Montazeri’s recording did in 2016. However, it is the moral and humanitarian responsibility of the international community to respond in a more assertive and coordinated fashion this time around, so as to bring accountability to Iran’s new president, Ebrahim Raisi, and those who have faced no consequences for this crime after more than 30 years.

Klamath River Dams: KRRC says 'Drain 45-Billion Gallons of Fresh Water From Lakes During Extreme Drought and Wildfires'

In the midst of Climate Change, Klamath River Renewal Corporation (KRRC) proposal will drain 45-billion gallons of fresh water from Copco and Iron Gate Lakes

In the midst of extreme drought and catastrophic wildfires, Klamath River Renewal Corporation ('KRRC') is proposing what is tantamount to draining our canteens before we cross a massive desert”

— William E. Simpson II – Naturalist

YREKA, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, July 30, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — It's no secret that the west coast of America is gripped by extreme drought that is forecast to continue into the foreseeable future.

According to experts, Climate Change is driving the weather patterns that are now depriving the western U.S. of normal annual precipitation, as well as the snow-pack that is critical for water storage into spring and summer.

The results of Climate Change are drier, hotter and longer summers. And with that comes the extreme drought and catastrophic wildfires.

The Dumbest Idea Ever?

A shell corporation going by the name of the 'Klamath River Renewal Corporation' (KRRC) wants to remove the dams on the Klamath River that hold 45-billion gallons of fresh water.

Copco and Iron Gate lakes are two large lakes that hold 45-Billion gallons of water. More here: https://www.einnews.com/pr_news/544283346/klamath-dams-removal-in-the-midst-of-water-crisis-antithesis-of-water-and-wildlife-conservation

These two lakes are formed by two of the 4-dams on the Klamath River.

Draining the 45-Billion gallons of water from Copco and Iron Gate Lakes and destroying structurally sound water-storage dams during a water crises that is combined with catastrophic wildfires is just insane.

Western states, especially California and Oregon, are facing evolving extreme drought resulting from Climate Change, that according to some climate models may last for a decade or more.

California desperately needs more dams, not less.

The insane level of irony in KRRC's proposal to drain the 45-billion gallons of fresh water from Iron Gate and Copco Lakes, and also destroy their dams, which are structurally sound, that today would cost about $1-billion dollars just to replace them, is that they are also planning to charge Californians and Oregonians close to a $1-Billion dollars to destroy the Klamath River dams and drain that precious water, destroying that water storage and management system!

And instead of burning fossil fuels to make the replacement energy for about 80,000 homes and businesses if the dams are removed, by keeping them, electrical consumers can take comfort in knowing the energy they are using is clean hydro-electric power.

No water to drink, shower or flush toilets!

In Southern Oregon and Northern California, domestic and municipal wells have gone dry, or will soon be dry.

Thousands of people in several counties in Northern California and Southern Oregon are suffering severe water shortages. In the Klamath Basin, residents are already having to bucket borrowed water just to have some drinking water and flush toilets, as over 100 domestic wells have gone dry, with hundreds more at risk of going dry..

And according to some long-range forecasting models, we are in a long period of extreme drought that could last for a decade or more!

In the midst extreme drought and catastrophic wildfires incinerating the west, the Klamath River Renewal Corporation ('KRRC'), a non-profit shell corporation is proposing what is tantamount to draining our canteens before we cross a massive desert.

Draining 45-Billion gallons of stored fresh water during an extreme drought has to be the dumbest idea ever!

Why would anyone even suggest such a crazy concept?

Well, Mr. Glen Spain, a member of KRRC's board of directors may have said it best, when he said it's about money, not salmon!

Read more here: https://www.einnews.com/pr_news/546897224/klamath-river-dams-krrc-s-proposed-dam-removal-project-minority-consensus-for-environmental-and-ecological-disaster

The False Premise

The key premise that has been served-up to the public and legislators is that removing the dams supposedly will restore a mythical salmon migration. And even if that was a good trade-off and exchange for people going without water to drink, bath and flush toilets, and having ample water to fight catastrophic wildfires, facts prove their 'premise' for dam removal is a fake!

A 1913 drawing by the famous engineer/dam builder J.C. Boyle shows that a naturally-formed 31-foot-tall lava dam was holding back the Klamath River creating 'Clammittee Lake', and was present when construction on Copco 1 dam began!

In fact, according to engineering drawings, the 132-foot-tall Copco 1 dam was built about two-tenths (2/10) of a mile downstream from the natural 31-foot-tall lava dam and Clammittee Lake. (SEE IMAGE of J.C. Boyle's drawing)

And when the Klamath River filled-in behind the larger man-made dam, the smaller dam and its natural lake were covered under the waters of the new larger lake, which is very similar in size to an even older lake that was formed in the same location by an ancient 130-foot-tall lava dam that stood for millennia, before finally eroding. When that ancient 130-foot-tall dam eroded, it allowed Clammittee Lake to then settle behind the remaining 31-foot-tall natural lava dam holding back the Klamath River, and barring upstream fish migration.

Nature, not man, had ordained that fish could not migrate past this point of multiple large lava dams for millennia!

Hard geologic and engineering evidence proves there was no fish migration past Ward Canyon the series of natural lava dams that blocked fish migration for many millennia.

Extreme Drought and Water Crises Amidst Catastrophic Wildfires

Medford is running out of water as are many surrounding towns. Hornbrook, CA is 'out of water'!

In Klamath Falls, hundreds of domestic wells are already dry, and more are expected to fail in the coming days and weeks.

Bend has its tourists on water rations. Ashland Oregon and Yreka, CA are next, as are other towns in Oregon and CA!

Firefighters are now having trouble fighting catastrophic wildfires due to limited water!

Showing up at a wildfire with a 'dry hose' is a recipe for more towns and cites getting burned to the dirt!

Amazingly, with all that's going-on, there are some people who think draining lakes is a 'good idea'… yes, it's true, there are people who are that poorly informed.

It's primarily uncaring people who reside outside the region, and the misinformed locals, who want to drain Billions of gallons of water into the sea!

And that idiotic agenda is driven by misleading propaganda fed into the media by KRRC, a non-profit shell company originally formed in an office in New York City.

Considering these intolerable conditions, which are predicted to get worse in the coming years, must we also suffer KRRC's plan to charge Oregon and California taxpayers $1-Billion to remove the Klamath dams and drain 45-billion gallons of precious fresh water from Copco and Iron Gate Lakes into the sea?

And shockingly, at the same time as promoting the removal of the Klamath River dams, California governor Gavin Newsom, is tapping the wallets of Californian taxpayers $5.1-Billion for a water bill to, now get this, 'build dams' !

Does the movie 'Idiocracy' come to anyone's mind? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP2tUW0HDHA

U.S. House Appropriations Bill Signals Sea Change in Psychedelic, Cannabis Research

Bill directs NIH to undertake and fund research into psychedelic-assisted therapies and potential benefits of cannabis, could accelerate the pace of research

Interest in psychedelic substances as potential treatments continues to grow alongside the body of evidence supporting their safety and efficacy for challenging mental health conditions.”

— Ismail Lourido Ali, J.D.

UNITED STATES, July 30, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a consolidated appropriations package¹ funding the Department of Health and Human Services, among other agencies. The bill will next be sent to the Senate Appropriations Committee and, if passed and enacted, will mark a significant shift in Congressional support for research of psychoactive substances, a primary project of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (https://maps.org/) and its wholly-owned subsidiary, MAPS Public Benefit Corporation (https://mapsbublicbenefit.com).

While the bill text does not expressly mention psychedelic research, the accompanying report² clearly states that Federal agencies should undertake research of psychedelic-assisted therapies, particularly in support of mental health for Veterans:

"Psychedelic Treatments.—Despite the recent Department of Veterans Affairs’ 2020 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report that showed there were no significant increases in the veteran suicide rate from 2017 and 2018, the Committee is concerned that over 17 veterans on average continue to commit suicide each day, which is a number that has remained persistent over the past decade. There have been many recent studies and clinical trials demonstrating the positive impact of alternative therapies, including psychedelics, for treatment resistant post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and major depressive disorder, particularly for veteran participants. In light of growing interest in this area, the Committee encourages NIH and other relevant Federal agencies to undertake, and where appropriate expand, research to evaluate the effectiveness of psychedelic therapies in treating PTSD, major depressive disorder, and other serious mental health conditions."

MAPS recently released the results of a Phase 3 clinical trial³ demonstrating that MDMA-assisted therapy may be a safe and efficacious treatment for PTSD. When considered alongside analyses that it may also be a highly cost-effective⁴ treatment with long-lasting benefits⁵, the treatment is positioned to quickly become a front-line response if approved.

In the United States, MAPS has sponsored 10 completed FDA-authorized clinical trials⁶ of MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD and other conditions; MAPS PBC is currently administering another seven MAPS-sponsored trials⁷. Since 2013, the NIH has allocated more than $821 million⁸ to research for PTSD treatments, yet essentially all funding for breakthrough-designated⁹ MDMA studies has been provided by philanthropic donors¹⁰. If passed, H.R. 4502 could provide critical funding to advance research of this treatment and other promising psychedelic-assisted therapies.

Ismail Lourido Ali, J.D., MAPS’ Interim Director of Policy & Advocacy for the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), notes, “Though Congress still needs significant education and demystification regarding psychedelics, interest in psychedelic substances as potential treatments for mental health disorders continues to grow alongside the body of evidence supporting their safety and efficacy for challenging mental health conditions. MAPS is encouraged that the issue of psychedelic care continues to cut through partisan lines, and we look forward to continuing to work with and educate Congress about psychedelic research, therapy, and the harms of the War on Drugs.”

An amendment to remove barriers to “any activity that promotes the legalization of any drug or other substance in Schedule I” of the Controlled Substances Act received a 60% increased share of support. Though the amendment failed, it gained 50 votes, for a total of 140 yes votes, as compared to a vote on the same amendment taken two years ago.

The bill and report language also contained moves to align Federal policy with state laws legalizing marijuana for medical or social use; increase funding for research into the potential benefits of marijuana, assessing impairment, and the impacts of legalization; and policies to protect cannabis users in matters of housing, employment.
