BAYARD, IOWA, UNITED STATES, February 27, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ —
There’s a new social media that is making waves with people from all over and with all backgrounds. The site is called YoReSpot. Created and funded by Brandon Irlbeck of Bayard, Iowa, this site was started with the belief that all people can come together without anyone experiencing the widespread censorship that other sites enforce. Whether it’s for a meme that you post, a comment made to someone, or even for liking things too much, too fast; this censorship has gotten out of hand, and it is only furthering the divide between people. YoReSpot has many features for it’s users to enjoy, including going live, calling in messenger, games, blog section and so much more. Not only does it have a familiar feel, but it runs smooth and the peaceful community like feel is astounding. A site for unity, for peaceful interactions, no matter what your spiritual beliefs, political or personal views are.

Despite standing up for unity, this site has not been met by everyone with open arms, including some other companies. In November of 2020, YoReSpot decided to use PayPal, Inc. for a one time payment of $9.99 for an ad-free version of the social networking site. This option removes ads, and also helps support the independently owned company. After just one week of use, PayPal emailed Irlbeck, CEO of YoReSpot, to inform him they were permanently suspending his business account. PayPal emails stated they did not have to explain why or how they came to this decision of action. Naturally, wanting to know why, a phone call took place between Irlbeck and PayPal in December of 2020. The PayPal representative stated that the company didn’t want anything to do with a site promoting Save the Children and Fund Homeless Vets movements, then proceeded to hang up on Irlbeck. They have since refused to engage in further contact with Irlbeck or his team and are still holding the money. “PayPal put a hold on a pretty decent chunk of change and said they would not release it for 180 days,” Irlbeck states, “none of this makes any sense to me. We haven’t done anything against their Terms of Service.”

Following the PayPal incident, Irlbeck decided to switch to Stripe for monetizing. Stripe was founded by John and Patrick Collison, with Patrick as the CEO. Things went very smooth with Stripe for a couple months, and Irlbeck thought that those issues were all in the past. Then on 2/26/2021, Stripe emailed Irlbeck saying they have permanently canceled the account and are holding the funds for 120 days. When Irlbeck tried to get an explanation, he got the familiar response that Stripe has the right to refuse to explain why his account was suspended permanently. “Here’s the kicker though,” Irlbeck says, “Stripe will not even allow me to refund users, they have locked my account completely.” So, Stripe is not just holding the money, but refusing to allow refunds as well; they’re effectively taking control of money that isn’t legally theirs, without a word of why or any communication thereafter.

Irlbeck has emailed his team of lawyers and is waiting back to find out if YoReSpot can take any legal action. “They have already gone through every transaction,” Irlbeck states, “and have concluded that neither PayPal or Stripe’s Terms of Service were not violated, in any way.” Some of his users have asked if there is anything they can do, while others are even calling for a boycott of Stripe and PayPal, Inc. for this ludicrous action made against such a respected and hardworking businessman. Irlbeck has vowed to do his best to find a payment company that does not have these policies and won’t shut accounts down without just cause.

30 Years of Florida School Shootings

30 Years of Florida School Shootings

“School Shooting: A New Study” attempts to provide the most comprehensive study on gun violence in schools ever published.”

— Luis Aponte

WELLINGTON, FLORIDA, U.S.A., February 27, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — — February 14th, 2021 marked the third anniversary of the Parkland, Florida mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Florida librarian and MSD alumnus, Luis Aponte, has written a groundbreaking book chronicling every school shooting in the United States between January 1st, 1990 and January 1st, 2020, with the goal of having at least one copy of the book in every school library in the United States by February 2022 and has launched a crowdfunding campaign to meet that goal.

According to Aponte, there were at least 70 school shootings in Florida between January 1, 1990 and January 1st, 2020 with at least one person injured or killed. With a total of 1,205 school shootings documented across the United States over a 30-year period, “School Shooting: A New Study” attempts to provide the most comprehensive study on gun violence in schools ever published. In order to help prevent future school gun violence, this study investigates deeper than the conventional list of dates, school names, and number of victims. “School Shooting: A New Study” features additional relevant information, such as:

• Identifying the motives of the perpetrator
• Determining whether or not the firearm used was obtained legally
• The location on the school property or at the school-sponsored event where the shooting took place
• Potential known warning signs
• The perpetrator(s) criminal history
• The perpetrator(s) mental health history and history of drug use.

Aponte has launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to generate pre-orders of the book. With approximately 140,000 public, private, and postsecondary schools in the country, according to the National Center for Education Statistics, 10% of every school would set a fundraising goal of $770,000. Aponte emphasizes that 100% of all the funds raised in the crowdfunding campaign will go toward publishing and delivering the book to school libraries so that they may be equipped with information that may help prevent future gun violence in schools. Updates on the book’s publication will be posted on the crowdfunding site as well as www.SchoolShootingBook.com.

Dr. Marcus A. Hunter and Congresswoman Barbara Lee calls for Commission on Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation

The Commission will provide healing to the ongoing impact that institutional racism and discrimination perpetuates against people of color in the United States.

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, February 27, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Truth was spoken to power. Congresswoman Barbara Lee and Senator Cory Booker re-introduced legislation calling for the establishment of the first United States Commission on Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation (TRHT) through the legislation of H.Con.Res.100. The Commission will address the ongoing impact that slavery, institutional racism, and discrimination against people of color has had on individuals and communities across the United States.

“The murder of George Floyd and the current COVID-19 crisis plainly illustrate once again the painful and dangerous legacy that white supremacy has had in our country, and the desperate need to fully acknowledge and understand how our history of inequality continues today,” Congresswoman Lee said when H.Con.Res.100 was first introduced in June.

This re-introduction was lauded by the members of the USTRHT Leadership Group including founding member and co-chair Dr. Marcus Anthony Hunter of UCLA who coined #BlackLivesMatter. The coalition was formed in November 2020 to support the building of a movement for the establishment of a U.S. TRHT Commission. The legislation, which is supported by a broad coalition of more than 117 members of Congress as well as more than 230 civic and community partners, was originally introduced during the 116th Congress by Congresswoman Lee on June 4, 2020, and by Senator Cory Booker on December 4, 2020.

Dr. Hunter says this about the legislation, “The U.S. must seize this historic opportunity to achieve racial equity and racial healing to radically transform our society into one where the false notion of human hierarchy is finally obliterated. If this project is taken up seriously as an executive action accompanying legislative action within the new Biden-Harris administration, the U.S. can emerge on the global stage as a compelling example of how acknowledging and archiving the truth and achieving meaningful racial healing can create a transformed America where all people are treated fairly, are provided meaningful access, and receive first-class citizenship, thus preventing and mitigating future harms.”

In a 2020 report, Citigroup reported discrimination against African Americans ranging from businesses to education cost the U.S. around $16 trillion since 2000. And not acting to reverse discriminatory practices will continue to exact a cost. Citigroup estimates the economy would see a $5 trillion boost over the next five years if the U.S. were to tackle key areas of discrimination against African Americans.

Dr. Hunter is encouraging a wide range of civic organizations, business owners and people to support this legislation by joining the movement or reaching out to their local legislatures to pass the bill. He says, “real healing happens, block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood.” The more people who demand this legislation be passed the sooner we can get to healing this nation and repairing racial injustices.

New Survey Reveals 46% of Bronx Residents will Take the Vaccine

The Thinkubator

The Bronx Community Foundation

The Thinkubator and The Bronx Community Foundation conducted a survey of NYC residents on the Covid-19 Vaccine. 46% of Bronxites will take the Vaccine.

BRONX, NY, UNITED STATES, February 26, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Bronx, New York: The Think Tank at The Thinkubator under the leadership of Dr. Lessie Branch and The Bronx Community Foundation have conducted a study on the Covid-19 Vaccine. The survey was conducted between February 11 – February 14 of 500 New York City residents utilizing SurveyMonkey’s powerful online survey platform. The survey sought to better understand respondents' knowledge of the vaccine, where they received their information from, whether they would take the vaccine or not, and reasons for their decisions regarding the vaccine. The survey results revealed that 59% of New York City residents will take the vaccine while 46% of Bronxites will receive the vaccine.

Other findings:
57% of respondents had a positive position on the vaccine and have significant information to make a decision about taking the vaccine while 15% had a negative view of the vaccine.
58% report learning about the Covid-19 vaccine from the news while 18% indicated that social media is where they’ve learned about the vaccine.
26% indicated that they would not take the vaccine even if required by their employer to work while 65% indicated that if their employer required the vaccination to physically attend work that they would take the vaccine.
When asked what factors are influencing your decision on whether you will take the vaccine or not? Respondents indicated
46% family
28% friends
37% medical professional
25% history of vaccinations
36% Covid-19 infection and death rates
When asked what concerns did respondents have? 31% repondent the potential side effects of the vaccine while 24% did not have any concerns about the vaccine.

Responses for Bronx residents reveal the following:
35% have a neutral opinion of the Covid-19 vaccine.
54% believe they have enough information about the vaccine to make an informed decision.
60% learned about the vaccine from the news.
46.2% stated that they will take the Covid-19 vaccine.
A large portion of Bronxites stated that family and the Covid-19 infection and death rates are influencing their decisions about the vaccine.

“The results are interesting when comparing and contrasting the Bronx to the rest of New York City residents.” Said Dr. Edward Summers, President and CEO of The Thinkubator. “The Bronx residents have a higher hestiatation rate when asked whether they will take the vaccine or not. Roughly, 13% fewer Bronxites will take the vaccine compared to nearly 60% of New York City residents. This indicates that we need to continue to think about ways to provide factual information to Bronxites.”

Dr. Lessie Branch, Director of The Think Tank at The Thinkubator stated “There is a desperate need for transformational relationships and not simply transactional relationships to overcome the centuries of distrust of people of color in the government and the medical community. Often as it relates to communities like the Bronx, the frame is one where management by crisis is the modus operandi. Things happen in a reactionary manner and the result is shortsighted policy leading to confusion and distrust. While in the instant case of COVID-19 a reactionary response to creating a vaccine is the proper response, that Black and Brown folk, women and communities like the Bronx have been treated as mere transactions for so long and have not had the benefit of trusted and established relationships, there are fewer residents who express confidence in the COVID-19 vaccine. It is my hope that this can be a teachable moment where those who are in power can really extrapolate the importance of establishing meaningful community relationships as a way to advance public goods and positive public outcomes.”

Desmon Lewis, Co-Founder of The Bronx Community Foundation said “With The Bronx being the unhealthiest part of New York State, our residents have been severely impacted by COVID-19. Although the Government moved swiftly in the creation of the vaccine, our community remains skeptical given previous government intervention in these types of situations. It is clear from the survey we executed that it is vitally important that Bronxites, and other residents across the City, are educated and continue to be given the information they need about the vaccine to ensure they could make an informed decision. We look forward to continuing to work in the community to support vaccine education for our Bronxites."

Zero Cost Reparations Plan Proposed by Black Libertarian, Larry Sharpe has Mass Appeal

Cash reparations can be harmful. This 4-point plan for Black ownership can amend past injustices according to 2018 candidate for NY Governor, Larry Sharpe.

The biggest issue in the Black Community is lack of generational wealth and Ownership. To right this wrong we need an answer that encourages ownership in the Black community.”

— Larry Sharpe

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, February 26, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Reparations for slavery were promised at the end of the Civil War. Had they been granted, the Black community would be much stronger today. Instead of reparations, they were targeted by government sponsored racism and terrorism.

“There was a broken promise at the end of the Civil War. A great opportunity for reparations that would have changed the trajectory of our nation's culture. 40 Acres and a mule fell apart and so did reparations for over 100 years,” says Larry Sharpe

A reparations program should last a generation, about 23 years, and then end according to Larry Sharpe, the 2018 Libertarian Party candidate for Governor of New York and host of The Sharpe Way. During that time, the following actions would help right a wrong, support more ownership culture in the Black community and encourage integration:

1) All property owned 51% or more by African Descendants of Slaves (ADOS) incur 1/2 property tax regardless of local laws: Residential or commercial, primary or investment. This encourages long-term investments as well as ownership and partnerships with the ADOS community.

2) All businesses owned 51% or more by ADOS incur 1/2 property tax regardless of local laws. This encourages shorter-term investments and profit schemes, as well as partnerships with the ADOS community.

3) All transfers of wealth to family members within the ADOS community is free regardless of taxes and/or fees. This encourages transfers of generation wealth down the family line, as well as up to older family members that may not want to engage in commercial activity.

4) End the War on Drugs and expunge all drug possession and selling convictions. Giving millions of ADOS a real second chance at life.

"Reparations can be a divisive issue and we need to find a solution that supports reconciliation and reconnection." – Larry Sharpe

According to Sharpe, many Republicans and Democrats have expressed support for the plan when they heard it in full. This solution would not cost taxpayers directly. The encouragement to invest, start businesses, and partner with the community would create large boosts to the economy and in particular the Black community. This is exactly what the Black community, and all American communities need, according to Sharpe.

This means encouraging ownership, and this can be sped up through property and business advantages granted to ADOS and an end to the War on Drugs.

Cash payouts can actually create long-term harm, as seen with lottery winners and structured settlement recipients. In the long-term, Sharpe believes that we must deal with a huge problem in the Black community, the lack of generational wealth and ownership. Rapper and activist, Killer Mike says that trying to live off of Black businesses is "damn near impossible." If we help create both, it will benefit Black families and Black communities.

The distance of slavery from today makes the American people feel less and less connected to it. Many would like to forget the past, but we are still living with the consequences of broken promises.

"It is difficult to repair a wrong from so long ago. It feels like ancient history to most Americans and many feel disconnected from it," says Larry Sharpe.

Slavery, racism, and Jim Crow have taught too many Black Americans that they cannot get ahead. African Americans who did get ahead often found themselves the targets of violence. Consequently, so many learned to keep their heads down and not get too attached to anything, according to Sharpe.

The end of Jim Crow did not end systemic racism. Many laws passed under Jim Crow are still on the books. New forms of discrimination emerged like the racially motivated war on drugs. These programs ensured the Black community continued to be suppressed.

"The biggest issue in the Black Community is lack of generational wealth and Ownership. To right this wrong we need an answer that encourages ownership in the Black community. " Larry Sharpe

Congress seems to be taking reparations seriously, but Sharpe fears they will drop the ball as they’ve done often in the past. As we continue to debate this high-profile topic, it is important to keep our eyes on the goal: A strong and inclusive America, built on trust.

“Recently Ice Cube has been frustrated with the response to his Contract with Black America. Neither party has shown any real interest in acting!” – Larry Sharpe

Wealthy members of the Black community do not need reparations. The people who do need help do not need a handout, either. They need a pathway to a better life. We can turn more members of the Black community into owners. Making people strong is the best way to achieve social justice, and will be a huge step towards inclusion and equity, according to Sharpe.

A TRUTH, RACIAL HEALING AND TRANSFORMATION COMMISSION CAN BRING UNITY, EQUITY AND RACIAL HEALING TO OUR NATION

Dr. Gail C. Christopher Supports Rep. Lee, Sen. Booker resolution calling for TRHT Commission

Statement by Dr. Gail C. Christopher, Executive Director, National Collaborative for Health Equity

A TRUTH, RACIAL HEALING AND TRANSFORMATION COMMISSION CAN BRING UNITY, EQUITY AND RACIAL HEALING TO OUR NATION
NCHE applauds Rep. Barbara Lee and Sen. Cory Booker for reintroducing a resolution in the House and Senate calling for the nation’s first national Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) Commission. After four years of divisive rhetoric and increased violence fueled by racial hatred, it is critical that America has a mechanism to bring communities together to heal wounds of the past and find pathways for a more just future in Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. The Jan. 6 insurrection and assault on the Capitol was an attack on the votes and civil liberties of millions of voters of color, and subsequently on the integrity of our democracy. The attack underscored the need for racial healing and a transformation in our people, our leaders, our communities and our institutions.

“This is a big ask. And to be accomplished, we need the power, resources and coordination that could be provided by the federal government partnering with communities to lead the healing process. This is a moment of racial reckoning. The Covid-19 pandemic’s economic, mortality and morbidity inequities are contributing to this unprecedented moment. Clearly, enough of the nation wants to transform systems to address equity and fairness across the land. Racial healing is now an imperative for protecting our national security – united communities can be important assets to help prevent future violence. Unifying and healing America can be accomplished through TRHT – the coordinated multi-sector, intergovernmental effort embedded in and led by local communities.

“The Biden administration promised to build back better and what’s better for America today is addressing the legacy of racism – the past and present. As a nation, it is critically important that we acknowledge the inequities of the past, their persistence today, and then act earnestly to heal the wounds and move forward together. NCHE believes that a TRHT Commission can help jettison the hierarchy of human value and launch a new era where all human beings are valued and have a capacity to see ourselves in one another.

“That’s the America that so many of us want.”
####
(The proposed U.S. Commission on Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) is informed by ongoing TRHT work on college campuses and in several US cities. Originally funded in 2017 by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation and several other philanthropies, this model and framework for action was created by Dr. Gail C. Christopher while she served as senior advisor and Vice President for TRHT at the Kellogg Foundation. To schedule print or broadcast interviews with Dr. Christopher, please contact: Michael K. As the new administration is set to redefine our country's immigration policies, thinking carefully about the ethical dimensions of immigration will be critical.”

— Jonathan Kwan, Markkula Center for Applied Ethics

SANTA CLARA, CA, UNITED STATES, February 26, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Santa Clara University’s Markkula Center for Applied Ethics announced the creation of a new focus area on immigration ethics led by Jonathan Kwan, Inclusive Excellence Postdoctoral Fellow in Immigration Ethics. The new program will offer resources and ethical analysis on the moral issues that arise from the movement of individuals across borders.

Although much of the debate on immigration over the last few decades has been framed in binary terms—one is either for or against immigration—it includes many issues beyond the question of whether states should limit immigrant admissions. For instance, once immigrants have entered a state, what rights and privileges should they have? Should unauthorized immigrants have access to a path to citizenship?

“Immigration continues to be a crucial issue, and we wanted to concentrate on this area and bring an ethics lens to an issue which is often politically charged. Jonathan Kwan is the perfect person to help us get a better grip on the ethical issues that surround immigration,” said Don Heider, executive director, Markkula Center for Applied Ethics.

"As the new administration is set to redefine our country's immigration policies, thinking carefully about the ethical dimensions of immigration will be critical,” said Jonathan Kwan, Inclusive Excellence Postdoctoral Fellow in Immigration Ethics. “Immigration, insofar as it raises questions about who should be a member of our country, has always been a matter of not only what values we hold as a democracy but also how we conceive of the identity of our country itself."

Kwan has a Ph.D. in philosophy from the Graduate Center, City University of New York. His main areas of scholarly interest include social and political philosophy, philosophy of race, feminist philosophy, Indigenous philosophy, environmental philosophy, Chinese philosophy, and Buddhist philosophy. Kwan is available to speak with members of the media on issues associated with immigration ethics. Follow the Immigration Ethics program on Twitter at https://twitter.com/MigrationEthics.

YoReSpot the only unifying social networking site.

BAYARD, IA, UNITED STATES, February 26, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Growing up in a politically leaning household will certainly mold how you see the world and develop your social and political preferences. If your parents believed something, and taught it to you, then more than likely you picked up at least some of those views; there are even scientific studies about these influences and how they affect us all. What people don’t acknowledge, however, is how these inherited stances and beliefs came hand in hand with negativity pointed at the “opposing” party. This started gradual, like a dripping faucet, and it wasn’t noticed. Now, however, you see it everywhere; the pipe has exploded. People are going so far as to avoid even just associating with anyone of “opposing” parties.

This is not how things should be. We are all just trying to survive and thrive in this world, why can we not put our political prides aside and bring back the humanity our people used to have, even upon disliking someone. This grand idea of unity and peace among the people cannot be so far-fetched, can it?

One Iowan doesn’t think so. Brandon Irlbeck, 33, of Bayard, Iowa, has created a social media site unlike any other. This site is functionally based around the idea that having a pleasant and community like social media experience is again very possible. Social media without all the anger, the finger pointing and the silencing that we have all experienced. It cannot be such an outlandish idea, because the site is growing. Fast. The app and site both have a smooth and familiar feel; with thousands of members, on every “side” and from all over the world, the lack of anger is truly astonishing. People are actually coming together, communicating, posting, creating new friendships and sharing with people from all over without even worrying about political views. This site is making unity happen. This is YoReSpot, an independently owned start to a big dream.

“I think it’s time to go back to the basics of what social media is supposed to be,” Irlbeck says. “There is this huge rift between us, and it is damaging everyone, and everything. I created this site with the belief that, without control over what is said, posted or even believed, unity and peace between people is possible. We can get back to helping each other, it’s even part of our plan.”

When asked what his political stance is, Irlbeck stated that he is a Conservative Republican. Yet, despite having strong political views, he still only speaks of unity, love and peace between the people of this nation, and the world. “I think we all can come together. You hear too much about the distance between people because of political views, or even country of origin. It’s a gap that is tearing us apart. That gap can be closed,” he pushes “we just have to be willing to work with each other.”

Irlbeck, father of 3, yearns for a safer and more loving world for his kids, with better chances for them to have meaningful relationships with people of all backgrounds. Don’t we all?

The question is, where do we start? Well, social media helped us get here, something all of us can attest to, so maybe social media can help us get back. Maybe instead of trying to change the current social media, we can all come together and make a change with a new start. “We don’t want to just make a place for everyone to feel welcome online, but we want to help our members too. We want to create a community like feel, where people can also help each other. My fiance and I have talked at length about living a more portable lifestyle with the goal of traveling to see members and to help each of them in some way.” This bold plan to travel across country, and potentially internationally, in an RV just to meet people and help out where needed, is something that has sparked inspiration among many in the YoReSpot community. Irlbeck has been called out as a man of integrity, honesty and perseverance by many of YoReSpot’s members. It is clear to the members that he has done so much already, for so many people, and this journey has yet to truly begin.
