Description

Wiseguyreports.Com Adds “Glycobiology -Market Demand, Growth, Opportunities and Analysis Of Top Key Player Forecast To 2023” To Its Research Database

The importance of carbohydrates in biological processes has long been underappreciated. Nevertheless, with new tools for synthesizing, modifying and
studying oligosaccharides and glycoconjugates, the understanding of th ese biomolecules is rapidly improving. This knowledge is also yielding promising candidates for carbohydrate-based diagnostics, drugs and vaccines.

Importantly, the study of such molecules is technically challenging as no sequencing tool, such as that used in proteomics or genomics, is available. However, following on from genomics and proteomics, there is increasing recognition of the importance of carbohydrate-based molecules in basic cellular processes. The central role of saccharides in cellular interactions means that novel oligosaccharides are of value in R&D programs addressing a wide range of therapeutic areas, including inflammation, immunity, oncology, neurodegenerative disease, infection and more.

Because of their essential function in many cellular processes, carbohydrates are also important biomarkers in diagnostic assay development.

This report will highlight the main segments of the glycobiology industry and its major market participants, including current and future market trends. Drivers and challenges in each segment of this industry will be discussed in detail, with a forecast from 2016 through 2021.

MPP and the Advisory Council are also announcing that they are organizing to #ForceTheVote on Medicare for all. The Force the Vote movement aims to pressure progressives in Congress to refuse to vote for Rep. Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House until she publicly pledges to bring Medicare for all to the floor of the House for a vote. House members will vote on January 3 on whether Pelosi or someone else is elected Speaker.

As part of its campaign, MPP will co-host the #ForceTheVote Town Hall Wednesday, December 30 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time, featuring Bad Faith Podcast host Briahna Joy Gray, Dr. Cornel West, Jimmy Dore, Justin Jackson, Rising host Krystal Ball, Secular Talk host Kyle Kulinski, and MPP National Coordinator Nick Brana.

The Town Hall is inviting progressive members of Congress to attend and discuss the urgent need to force a vote on Medicare for all in the middle of a pandemic that has killed 330,000 Americans. Organizers are calling on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Rep.-elect Cori Bush, Rep. Ilhan Omar, Rep.-elect Jamaal Bowman, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Rep. Ro Khanna, and Congressional candidate Sen. Nina Turner to join them and thousands of Americans in desperate need of health care at the Town Hall.

More than 33,000 people have signed a petition demanding progressives force a vote on Medicare for all, including 4,000 health professionals.

Stated Dr. Cornel West: "The People's Party is on the move! Corporate power and Pentagon militarism dominate the Democratic Party! The suffering of everyday people is a national emergency! Only an independent party can rescue us! #ForceTheVote is the first step!"

Said Susan Sarandon: "I want a party that's free of corporate money and influence and puts people before profit…I'm joining the People's Party."

Declared Justin Jackson: "We need to force the vote because in the midst of a deadly pandemic we need Medicare For All, and we need our representatives to show us they're willing to fight for it."

The 90-minute Town Hall will feature short statements by speakers, personal stories from people who have lost health care, a discussion with progressive members of Congress (should they attend), and questions from the audience. Nearly 15 million people have lost their employer-based health insurance during the pandemic. That's on top of the 30 million Americans who were already uninsured in the richest country in the world before the pandemic. Meanwhile, the governments of every other major country on Earth guarantee health care to all people as a right.

The presenters will discuss how voters can pressure their elected representatives and demand a single-payer system that would ensure everyone's access to quality health care during the worst public health crisis in a century.

MPP is the national movement for a major new progressive populist party in America. The movement is answering the call of the majority of Americans who want a major new party and want big money out of politics. In contrast to the Democratic and Republican parties, the People's Party rejects corporate money and is powered entirely by grassroots donations. The movement is organizing for ballot access in all 50 states. People's Party candidates will run for Congress in 2022 and the presidency in 2024. The People's Party officially registered in the state of Maine this month, its first state, and will be holding its national founding convention in 2021.

American Union Launches Change.org Petition Urging Congress to Pass its Legislation

Snow falls on the US Capitol building.

Congress has the ability to end poverty, end mass incarceration, and end the endless wars.

The Change.org petition urges Congress to hold a vote on The Blueprint for a Better America in exchange for voter support in the Georgia run-off elections.

By signing this petition and voting with the American Union, we can force Congress to listen and act. We can end poverty, end mass incarceration, and end the endless wars.”

— Brian Winters

ATLANTA, GA, US, December 29, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — The American Union, a block of non-partisan voters represented by Phoenix Congress 2020 PAC, has launched a Change.org petition demanding an up-or-down vote on its crowdsourced legislation, the Blueprint for a Better America. The Blueprint is a ready-to-pass legislative package containing transformative policies which will end poverty, end mass incarceration, and end the endless wars. The group bills it as "the answer to 2020's problems."

In 2020, the pandemic caused economic harm to tens of millions of Americans, pushing an estimated eight million into poverty. Universal basic income (UBI), an unconditional amount of money given to each citizen on a regular basis, is a key part of the legislation. An estimated 38 million Americans are currently living in poverty, about a third of them children. With UBI, every single American would be lifted up above the poverty line.

In May, the murder of George Floyd drew international attention to systemic racism in the criminal justice system. Protests were held in many cities around the country, calling for change, but no major reforms have taken place. The proposed legislative package contains many police and prison reforms, as well as an end to the federal war on drugs.

Just before Christmas, Congress passed a 5,593 page legislative package that was presented to the House and Senate for an immediate vote, with limited debate and no opportunity for amendments. The American Union demands the same treatment for the Blueprint for a Better America, whose 159 pages have been publicly available since October. With the same language before both chambers of Congress, the gridlock between the House and the Senate can be avoided.

The American Union is asking Americans to join its cause and sign the petition endorsing immediate passage of this legislation, which contains many popular policies. Voters who sign the petition can also offer a rebuke to the two-party system that, according to the American Union, has caused inaction in Congress for decades.

As a block of swing voters, the American Union projects that 2% of voters will be decisive in determining the outcome of next week’s run-off elections in Georgia. That leverage over the balance of power in the US Senate can be used to prod Congress to end poverty, end mass incarceration, and end the endless wars.

The petition demands that the 116th Congress, which ends on January 3, 2021, hold a vote on the Blueprint. The party that is most cooperative in advancing this legislation can earn the endorsement and votes of the American Union on January 5, and control of the US Senate.

“Party politics are ruining America,” said former state legislator and Phoenix Congress 2020 PAC founder Brian Winters. “For years, Congress has been mired in partisan gridlock, unable even to pass legislation that has wide support among the American people. We created a legislative package, the Blueprint for a Better America, that combines these popular policies to address real problems in 2020. And now, we’re inviting citizens to sign our petition and tell Congress that they won’t play their partisan game anymore. We demand that our leaders pass the Blueprint if they want to keep their jobs.”

The Blueprint was inspired by the teachings of Martin Luther King Jr., Winters explained, and its three principle policy pillars address King’s “triple evils” of poverty, racism, and militarism by ending poverty, ending mass incarceration, and ending the endless wars. The Blueprint for a Better America is available to read or download on the group’s website.

To end poverty, the Blueprint will implement universal basic income, styled as American Union jobs. Adults will receive an unconditional payment of $300/week, plus $100/week for children. This would be funded through a combination of a value added tax (VAT), fee-and-dividends on pollutants, and Congress’ constitutional power to create debt-free money. The American Union jobs program will also offer a public healthcare option, free digital bank accounts, and 18 weeks of paid family leave.

To end mass incarceration, the legislation will reform the criminal justice system and end the federal war on drugs, letting states set their own drug policies. Surplus military equipment would no longer be available to local police departments, cash bail and qualified immunity would be reformed, and outreach programs would be available in communities damaged by the war on drugs, funded by a 12% tax on the sale of ‘recreational intoxicating products,’ as formerly illegal drugs are euphemistically referred to. In the prison system, federal parole would be reestablished and sentencing reviews would be available after 10 years of incarceration.

To end the endless wars, the Blueprint will repeal the authorizations for use of military force in the Middle East that were passed nearly 2 decades ago. It will also diminish military spending, close the Guantanamo Bay military prison, and require local referendums to be held at the hundreds of foreign military bases around the world. "If the local people say they want us to leave," explained Winters, "we will respect their decision."

“The policies in the Blueprint have wide support among Americans,” continued Winters. “Many of the policies are supported by 60% or more of the population. So why won’t Congress enact the people's will? That’s their job, and they are failing us. By signing this petition and voting with the American Union, we can force Congress to listen and act. We can end poverty, end mass incarceration, and end the endless wars.”

All US citizens, even those not registered or ineligible to vote, can sign the Change.org petition.

Campaign to end race-day doping in Thoroughbred racing sees tremendous success

The signing of the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act is the greatest gain for horse protection in half a century, and will put the welfare of the horses at the center of the enterprise.”

— Marty Irby

WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, December 28, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — In the biggest gain for animal welfare in 2020, and in the $900 billion year-end spending bill, President Donald J. Trump signed into law the Horseracing Integrity and Safety (HISA) Safety Act, H.R. 1754/S. 4547, last night, concluding an eight-year campaign to end medication abuses leading to breakdowns and injuries and deaths on tracks across the nation. The House passed H.R. 1754, led by U.S. Reps. Paul Tonko, D-N.Y., and Andy Barr, R-Ky. by a voice vote in September, but the Senate had not taken up S. 4547 introduced by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Senators Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., and Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. that promises to end the era of widespread doping of horses in Thoroughbred racing in America.

“We don’t allow doping of athletes in cycling, baseball, and other professional sports,” said Wayne Pacelle, president of Animal Wellness Action. “It’s should be a no-brainer to forbid this form of cheating and dangerous treatment of horses in American Thoroughbred racing, too.”

“The signing of the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act is the greatest gain for horse protection in half a century, will put the welfare of the horses at the center of the enterprise, and put the sport on a level playing field that aligns with the rest of the world,” said Marty Irby, executive director at Animal Wellness Action, who was named as one of The Hill’s Top Lobbyists for 2020, was recently recognized by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, II for his work to protect horses, and testified before Congress in support of HISA in January. “We applaud Senators Mitch McConnell, Kirsten Gillibrand, Diane Feinstein, and Reps. Paul Tonko and Andy Barr for saddling up and pushing the ban on doping in Thoroughbred horse racing over the finish line.”

“Kentucky’s cherished horseracing traditions deserve to be protected. I’m proud the Senate agreed to my legislation to preserve our signature racing industry and the 24,000 workers who support it,” said Senator Mitch McConnell. “With the leadership of Congressman Andy Barr and the partnership of sport leaders, horse advocates, and fans, we’re one step closer to promoting fairness and safety across Thoroughbred racing. As Majority Leader, I made this Kentucky-focused legislation a top priority in the Senate. I look forward to this major advancement for our beloved sport becoming law.”

“With today’s passage of HISA in Congress we are in the final stretch of achieving the most transformational and consequential reform of the Thoroughbred horseracing industry since enactment of the Interstate Horseracing Act of 1978,” said Congressman Andy Barr. “For almost a decade, I have worked with industry stakeholders and my Congressional colleagues to build consensus around reforms that will protect equine athletes and strengthen confidence and international competitiveness in the sport. I am proud to champion this historic, bipartisan legislation with Congressman Paul Tonko and Leader McConnell and I look forward to President Trump signing it into law.”

“For six years now, I have worked in a bipartisan fashion with my friend and partner in this effort, Congressman Andy Barr, to reform this noble sport to ensure it can continue to provide good jobs and support economic vitality in Saratoga Springs and communities like it throughout the nation,” said Congressman Paul Tonko. “Our Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act does this by putting the well-being of our horses and jockeys front and center, delivering commonsense medication reforms and track safety standards that will restore public trust and confidence. After this long race, I am delighted to see our legislation finally reach the winner’s circle and I look forward to ensuring a strong implementation of these new standards so that the sport of horseracing can thrive for generations to come.”

The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act includes a ban on race-day doping, the establishment of a uniform national standard for rules and regulations for U.S. horseracing that would be overseen by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act (HISA) is landmark legislation that would directly address the safety and welfare of racehorses, and the integrity of the sport itself, through better anti-doping measures and racetrack safety standards. The doping of American racehorses has been the subject of Congressional attention over the past five years with hundreds of horses dying on racetracks weekly, and the indictment of 37 trainers and veterinarians in March of 2020.

The bill has the support of Animal Wellness Action (AWA), the Animal Wellness Foundation (AWF), Horses for Life Foundation, the American Horse Protection Society, the Center for a Humane Economy, and key players throughout the horse racing industry, including all three Triple Crown racetracks. Churchill Downs, which runs the Kentucky Derby, is the most recent corporation to get on board. The effort continues to enjoy the support of the Coalition for Horse Racing Integrity (CHRI), which includes The Jockey Club, the Breeders Cup, Keeneland Racecourse, the New York Racing Association, The Stronach Group, the Thoroughbred Owners & Breeders Association, the Water Hay Oats Alliance, U.S. Harness Racing Alumni Association, and Animal Wellness Action.

The patchwork of regulations across the U.S.’s 38 racing jurisdictions has undermined the public’s confidence in horseracing, threatened the integrity of competition, and endangered the human and equine athletes. Enactment of the HISA will address these problems head-on while helping to enhance the public’s interest in this very important industry. For the safety of the horses and jockeys, and for the sport of horseracing itself, American horseracing needs the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act of 2020.

Key Provisions

In order to create these uniform performance and safety standards for the sport of horseracing, the HISA creates the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority, which is a private, independent, self-regulatory, nonprofit organization. It will not be funded by the federal government – the horseracing industry will pay the funds necessary for the establishment and administration of the Authority. The Authority is tasked with developing and implementing both a horseracing anti-doping and medication control program and a racetrack safety program.

Composition of the Authority

The Authority will be governed by a Board of Directors consisting of nine members. Five of those members will be independent of the industry, and four members will be experts from the following sectors of the industry: owners and breeders, trainers, racetracks, veterinarians, State racing commissions, and jockeys. To assist with the development of these programs, the Board will establish an anti-doping and medication control standing committee and a racetrack safety standing committee, both controlled by independent members outside the industry. All independent members of the Board and standing committees will be subject to strict conflict-of-interest standards.

Anti-Doping Program

The Authority will be required to create a set of uniform anti-doping rules, including lists of prohibited substances and methods, protocols around the administration of permitted substances, and laboratory testing accreditation and protocols. These permitted and prohibited substances and practices will be developed after taking into consideration international anti-doping standards and veterinarian ethical standards, along with consulting racing industry representatives and the public. The new nationwide rules would replace the current patchwork of regulatory systems that govern horseracing’s 38 separate racing jurisdictions. For services related to the enforcement of this program, the Authority shall enter into an agreement with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, which has a proven track record of conducting anti-doping and medication control activities for all U.S. Olympic athletes and its approach can easily be adapted to horseracing.

Racetrack Safety Program

To protect the health and safety of racehorses and jockeys, the Authority will also create a racetrack safety program, consisting of a uniform set of training and racing safety standards and protocols. Those standards include racetrack design and maintenance, oversight of human and equine injury reporting and prevention, and the procedures for undertaking investigations at racetrack and non-racetrack facilities related to safety violations. The Authority creates an accreditation program to ensure that racetracks comply with these safety procedures, and in order to continue to gather information on racetrack safety, the Authority will establish a nationwide database of racehorse safety, performance, health, and injury information within one year of the establishment of the program.

City of Rancho Cucamonga & San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Sued for Constitutional & Civil Rights Violations

The City of Rancho Cucamonga and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has a history of unfair and discriminatory practices against Pepe’s Towing.”

— Manuel Acosta, President and Co-owner of Pepe’s Towing Services

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA, USA, December 28, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Pepe’s Towing Services is suing the City of Rancho Cucamonga, County of San Bernardino, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, and seven individuals after the unfair and sudden termination of Pepe’s Towing Services Agreement with Rancho Cucamonga.

The other seven individuals being sued include San Bernardino County Sheriff's Sergeant Gary Esmond and Chief of Police Donny Mahoney, City of Rancho Cucamonga City Manager John Gillison, City Attorney James Markman, Mayor Dennis Michael, and City Council-members Lynne Kennedy, Ryan Hutchison, Kristine Scott, and Sam Spagnolo.

The Complaint, which was filed against all parties on December 2, 2020, provides details of Pepe’s claims, including violation of Pepe’s First Amendment and Fourteenth Amendment rights.

The issues began in 2018 when Chief Mahoney issued four reprimands to Pepe’s within six weeks alleging Towing Service Agreement violations for arriving a few minutes after the 20-minute mandate. All four reprimands were successfully appealed and removed from Pepe’s record.

After the successful appeal, Chief Mahoney unjustly and unfairly directed his deputies to favor the city’s other towing operators.

Thereafter, several instances occurred where a large number of vehicles needed to be towed, and Pepe’s Towing was told they were only permitted to tow a fraction of what the other tow operators were allowed to tow despite their availability, capacity, and the requirements of the tow rotation. When Pepe’s complained about this discriminatory action, Pepe’s Towing Services Agreement was unilaterally terminated.

“The City of Rancho Cucamonga and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has a history of unfair and discriminatory practices against Pepe’s Towing,” said Manuel Acosta, president and co-owner of Pepe’s Towing Services. “Despite abiding by protocols and our successful track record with numerous cities and law enforcement agencies, we have been targeted at the direction of Chief Mahoney.”

The Complaint also states that San Bernardino County Sheriffs Executive Director John Fogerty showed favoritism and made backdoor deals with other tow companies based on his relationships with the owners.

These actions come at a time where businesses like Pepe’s Towing are already struggling amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Relaxed towing enforcement following stay at home orders have made it even more difficult to stay afloat, coupled with the fact that the City of Rancho Cucamonga has increased the monthly tow operator fees by $1,000 per month.

Due to the ongoing favoritism and discrimination, Pepe’s Complaint includes claims for:
1. Violation of the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment;
2. Violation of the First Amendment right to free speech;
3. Conspiracy to violate Pepe’s Constitutional rights;
4. Failure to prevent the violation of Pepe’s Constitutional rights;
5. Monell violations as final policymaker;
6. Monell violations for failure to train;
7. Supervisor liability under §1983; and
8. Monell violation for ratification.

Cannabis is a drug made up of different cannabinoids as well as other compounds. Cannabis, also known as marijuana, is a family of plants called Cannabaceae. There are more than 700 varieties of cannabis that have been described so far. Based on characteristics such as shape, color, height, smell, it is usually recognized by two main types: Cannabis Sativa, a native of the Western Hemisphere and Cannabis Indica, a native of Central and South Asia.

The legal cannabis market has witnessed continuous growth in the past few years and is projected to grow significantly in future. The market is expected to be driven by various growth factors such as rapid cannabis legalization, growth of vaporizer market, growing number of medical cannabis patients, and rising cannabis consumption. However, the market is not free from challenges that are hindering its growth. Some of the major challenges faced by the market are lack of banking and financial services, complex legal norms and product restriction.

California dominated the U.S. legal cannabis market market with extensive demand for both medical and recreational cannabis due to large number of population in the region. Latest legalization of cannabis in Canada and rapid changes in the consumption patterns of individuals, with increasing recreational use of cannabis would help to promote the growth of the cannabis market in Canada as well.

The major players dominating the legal cannabis market are mCig, Inc., Canopy Growth Corporation, GW Pharmaceuticals and Arena Pharmaceuticals. The companies are further expanding their operations and production through specialized manufacturing of products and growing business agreements.

Wiseguyreports.Com Adds “Plant Based Food & Beverage -Market Demand, Growth, Opportunities and Analysis Of Top Key Player Forecast To 2024” To Its Research Database

One of the food and beverage categories that is witnessing the largest growth right now is plant-based products. A plant-based product is simply one that is based more on plant sources like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, rather than on animal sources such as meat and dairy. The desire for clean labels, ease of digestion, the need to avoid allergens, compatibility with vegetarian and vegan lifestyles and concerns about sustainability among the general population are some of the factors that are putting the spotlight on plant based food and beverages.

Plant based milk alternative is the fastest growing segment in overall plant based food and beverages market across the globe. Nowadays, cow milk allergy, lactose intolerance, calorie concern and more preference to vegan diets has influenced consumers towards choosing cow milk alternatives. Market players are offering robust portfolio of plant based brands and products while expanding the growth of their current brands. Concerted research and development efforts are also undertaken to prepare tailor-made plant based diets which are palatable as well as nutritionally adequate.

The global plant based food & beverage market is set to experience favorable growth driven by factors such as surging vegan production, positive environmental impact of plant based food, increasing millennial population, growing concern for health and wellness, rising food safety concerns among others. The major trends observed include growing preference for milk alternatives, rise of veganism and technological advancements. However, the growth of this market is constrained by challenges such as product recalls and threatened market withdrawals, adverse weather conditions and concern over nutritional content of plant based products.

The report “Global Plant Based Food & Beverages Market: Industry Analysis & Outlook (2018-2022)” analyses the development of this market, with focus on the US. The major trends, growth drivers as well as issues being faced by the market are discussed in detail in this report.
