USNIC (202) 332-8155

Statement By The U.S. Nuclear Industry Council

Few have had David Blee's ability to navigate the corridors of Washington and consistently advance worthy goals as capably as he.”

— Hon. Bud Albright, USNIC Chairman

WASHINGTON, D.C., USA, December 31, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The United States Nuclear Industry Council (USNIC) announced today that its founder and leader, president and chief executive officer, Mr. David Blee died suddenly this past weekend due to medical complications stemming from an adverse reaction to medication he was taking at the time.

For over 15 years since its founding and that of its predecessor organizations, David has been at the helm of USNIC and has been instrumental in guiding and leading industry efforts to win support for nuclear power in the U.S., and internationally. He was a tireless champion and was highly respected and admired by all for his efforts.

Hon. Bud Albright, the USNIC Chairman and former Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy, stated that "the loss of our friend and able leader, David, leaves our hearts hollow. He was a good man. Few have his ability to navigate the corridors of Washington and consistently advance worthy goals as capably as he. We shall miss him terribly, and as he would want, we shall continue to advance innovation, progress, and the application of advanced nuclear energy technology for the betterment of the world." Hon. Albright also reported that the USNIC board has met and has developed a plan to ensure USNIC's continuity and continued advocacy for the U.S. nuclear industry.

David's public service experience included his current appointment to the U.S. Department of Commerce's Civil Nuclear Trade Advisory Committee and past appointments as a Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Energy and Director of Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of Energy – and as Chief of Staff to former U.S. Senator Connie Mack while Hon. Mack was serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Prior to founding USNIC and its predecessors, David Blee was an Executive Vice President for NAC International, a U.S.-based energy services and technology company, where he directed the company's Worldwide Consulting Group and Marketing & Business Development portfolios. Mr. Blee was previously a Senior Vice President for the strategic communications firm Robinson, Lake, Lerer and Montgomery.

The son of a Central Intelligence Agency officer who headed divisions in India and the former Soviet Union, David was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and lived 11 of his first 14 years overseas, including six years in India. He graduated from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania with a degree in economics but was soon drawn to politics and public service. David held numerous positions in government and industry over a career spanned several decades but as USNIC's leader he came to focus on efforts to revitalize the nuclear power industry. USNIC plays a key role in many facets of nuclear technology and commerce, and he was widely known as the industry's chief advocate and promoter inside and outside the halls of government.

In addition to his responsibilities as a nuclear industry leader, David was an avid horse racing industry enthusiast and a dedicated and loving husband and father. David Blee died on December 29, 2019 in Kentucky and was 66 years old. David is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth, and three children – Cooper, Elizabeth and Augustus Blee; brothers Richard, John and Robert and twin sister Elizabeth.

The United States Nuclear Industry Council (USNIC) is the leading U.S. business consortium advocate for new nuclear and promotion of the American supply chain globally. Composed of over 80 companies USNIC represents the "Who's Who" of the nuclear supply chain community, including key utility movers, technology developers, construction engineers, manufacturers and service.

Happy New Year and Tamils’ wish

Go around the world and ask the Tamils what is their need now. They will say that they need Vigneswaran-Ponnampalam's joint leadership.

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, USA, December 31, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Happy New Year and Tamils’ wish

We want to wish for a happy, healthy and prosperous year to our readers and the Tamils in the northeast and the rest of the world.

For the last last ten years, Tamil leadership enjoyed the perks given by Sri Lanka and forgot about the promise that they gave to the Tamils in their election manifesto.

The Tamil leadership weakened the Tamils and made the Tamils to lose their bargaining power. Their approach never brought any resolution or benefit for the Tamils.

It is time for the current elected leaders to go home and for different leaders to take control of the Tamils' political effort.

Therefore we wish to form a new leadership. Gajendrakumar Ponnampalam is a strong Tamil nationalist. We saw his action during the 13 points request from the presidential candidates.

It shows that Mr. Gajendrakumar is very knowledgeable and brave concerning the Tamils’ political future.

Former Chief justice and chief minister of the northern provincial council Mr. Vigneswaran's knowledge of our history and communication skills are also very important. He will be able to help explain to the world why Tamils need protection and self-rule.

Therefore our wish is that the two Tamil leaders should join together and take control of the Tamils’ future.

Go around the world and ask the Tamils what is their need now. Also travel around the North-east and ask the Tamils. They will say that they need Vigneswaran-Ponnampalam's joint leadership.

Let us pray to make our dream come true

Thank you,

Tamil Diaspora News: Person of the Year in 2020.

To remind the world the suffering of the Tamils, we would like to nominate the war criminal and monster Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the person of year for 2020.

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, December 31, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The continuous struggle and suffering of the Tamils is not ending soon. The only way this can be solved is by finding justice for the Tamils who lost more than 145,000 loved ones and are still missing more than 25,000. The war created 90,000 widows and left 50,000 children orphaned. The Sinhalese must be held accountable.

The last government by the UNP was a fake. It said that it cared about the Tamils, but in practice it did the opposite. Since the UNP had Western connections, it was able to do anything and avoid international scrutiny.

The UNP government in the northeast instilled many racist Sinhalese Buddhist symbols, settled many more Sinhalese in the region, destroyed Hindu temples, and blocked any effort by the United Nations Human Rights Commission to investigate war crimes.

In addition, the elected Tamil MPs were bought by the Sinhalese government with perks and positions, including a mansion in Colombo-7 with many luxury cars for Tamil leader Mr. Sampanthan.

Tamil leaders in the name of reconciliation have given up on the northeast merger, federalism, and searching for missing people and international investigation of the Sri Lankan war crimes.

During the last government, all paths for the Tamils were blocked by the UNP and TNA.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa's visibility in Sri Lanka as the new president will shine a light on the war crimes and the necessity of a political settlement to protect the Tamils.

Even though Rajapaksa is a war criminal and engineered the mass killings and genocide of the Tamils, it is good to have such a figure in power so that every international player will remember the carnage that happened to the Tamils.

To remind the world the suffering of the Tamils, we would like to nominate the war criminal and monster President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the person of the year for 2020.

Mental Health Watchdog Calls for Investigation into Psychiatric Drugging of Millions of Children

Psychotropic drug use is much higher in America compared to other countries according to researchers who found that drug use was 3 times greater in the U.S.

Currently more than 7 million U.S. children are being prescribed psychiatric drugs and hundreds of thousands of these children are between the ages of zero to five.”

— Citizens Commission on Human Rights

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, December 31, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — According to researchers the use of psychotropic drugs in children was significantly greater in the U.S. compared to the Netherlands and Germany. Use of antidepressants and stimulants was 3 or more times greater in the U.S. (6.7%) than in the Netherlands (2.9%) and Germany (2.0%). Even more alarming is that these researchers found that, “stimulants were used at rates 10–25 times higher in American children 0–4 years old compared to the two Western European countries.” [1]

In response, the Florida chapter of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), a non-profit mental health watchdog dedicated to protection of children, is calling for an investigation into the heavy psychiatric drugging of children.

Currently more than 7 million U.S. children are being prescribed psychiatric drugs and hundreds of thousands of these children are between the ages of zero to five. [2] Children are being drugged simply because psychiatry has pathologized normal childhood behaviors, and repackaged them as “mental disorders.” The result is that millions of children are being drugged for behaviors reclassified by psychiatry as “disease.”

In 2015, the research arm of Florida's child-protection system released a report revealing that foster children are being put on psychotropic medications without caregivers following proper procedures and that 11 percent of the children in foster care had active prescriptions for at least one psychotropic drug. While a review of 140 children's files showed just 20 percent of these children met all the key requirements for administering such medication. [3]

Following the tragic death of 7-year-old Gabriel Myers in 2009, who was found hanging from a shower fixture in his foster home after having been prescribed two “black box” drugs intended for adults – the Florida policies for using psychotropic drugs on foster kids were updated but this has not solved the problem.

The psychiatric drugging of children is not just confined to the foster care system. In 2011 a two-year investigation concluded that kids in Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan, Oregon and Texas were “prescribed psychotropic drugs at rates 2.7 to 4.5 times higher than other children in Medicaid in 2008.” [4]

CCHR hopes that the December 2019 “groundbreaking” settlement of a civil rights lawsuit filed in Missouri, which alleged "a longstanding failure by the state to provide adequate oversight in the administration of powerful psychotropic medications to children in foster care", will also bring about much needed reform in Florida. [5] Individuals are invited to the center, located at 109 N. Fort Harrison Avenue in downtown Clearwater to learn more about the dangers associated with psychiatric drugs. To learn more, please call 727-442-8820 or visit www.cchrflorida.org.

About CCHR: Initially established by the Church of Scientology and renowned psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Szasz in 1969, CCHR’s mission is to eradicate abuses committed under the guise of mental health and enact patient and consumer protections. L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology, first brought psychiatric imprisonment to wide public notice: “Thousands and thousands are seized without process of law, every week, over the ‘free world’ tortured, castrated, killed. All in the name of ‘mental health,’” he wrote in March 1969.

PARIS, FRANCE, December 31, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — On Monday, December 31, 2019, Resistance units posted banners carrying pictures and messages of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, and Mr. Massoud Rajavi, the Leader of the Iranian Resistance, in different parts of Tehran, including Qoddousi, Qasr, Khajeh Nassir Tousi and Sabalan streets, as well as in Qods City.

The banners read, “Overthrow of the anti-human enemy is certain,” “Khamenei and Rouhani must face justice for crime against humanity,” “Destruction of theocracy’s rule of oppression and injustice is close” and “Resistance units open the path and serve as guides for the rebellious, defiant generation.”

In another development, this morning, defiant youth torched the paramilitary Bassij bases in Tehran, Karaj and Iranshahr, as well as a regime seminary in Tehran. In Mahshahr, Khamenei’s picture was set ablaze.

Yesterday, defiant youth also targeted the IRGC’s Khatam ol-Anbiya Construction Headquarters in Tehran. Today, the mullahs’ regime confirmed the attack, while trying to down play the assault to minimize its impact on the morale of its forces and agents. Quoting an “informed source,” the state-run Asr-e Khabar wrote, “Early morning yesterday, an unidentified man riding on a motorcycle threw a hand-grenade at the building… Given the available videos, his identity is under investigation.”

The US State Department Must Deny Visa to Iranian Regime Foreign Minister

The U.S. State Department must deny visa to Javad Zarif. This would be a strong message to the people of Iran, especially those who lost their loved ones during the recent protests.”

— Iranian Americans

WASHINGTON, DC, USA, December 31, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Iranian regime foreign minister, Javad Zarif, is scheduled to attend a meeting on multilateralism in New York on January 9, 2020. This trip comes at a time where the regime is utterly rejected by the people of Iran in nationwide protests across 191 cities and towns since November 15, 2019. The disgraced Zarif represents a brutal regime responsible for killing more than 1,500 people in recent weeks. More than 12,000 people have been arrested but the protests continue even during the memorial services across Iran. Chanting “down with the dictator,” the people of Iran denounce the regime’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, and its president, Hassan Rouhani.
Blacklisted by the US State Department, Zarif personifies a terrorist regime whose crimes against humanity is seen in the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners. He represents a regime with the highest record of terrorist activities and proxy wars around the world. With such abhorring record of violence and terror, his visit is an affront to the entire framework of the United Nations.
The U.S. State Department must deny visa to Javad Zarif. This would be a strong message to the people of Iran, especially those who lost their loved ones during the recent protests, as well as a clear message to the Iranian regime that the world no longer tolerates its killings inside Iran and terrorism abroad.
Zarif and his regime do not represent the people of Iran. Iran’s UN seat belongs to the people of Iran who stand for humanity, peace, justice and freedom.

Youth for Human Rights will conduct training for social workers, teachers, advocates and citizens in Washington, DC, for Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

Putting an end to human trafficking starts with acknowledging its existence and gaining the skills to properly recognize and report it.”

— Erica Rodgers, Director of Youth for Human Rights National Office

WASHINGTON, DC, USA, December 30, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Would you know how to accurately spot a victim of human or sex trafficking? Do you feel confident in your ability to report it to the correct authorities while maintaining your own safety? Youth for Human Rights International will be conducting training in spotting and preventing human trafficking on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, to teach attendees the skills necessary to help save lives from this criminal enterprise.

During the month of January, advocates, organizations and individuals unite to raise awareness about the issue of human trafficking. The International Labor Organization estimates that there are 40.3 million victims of human trafficking globally, with hundreds of thousands in the United States. According to the Department of Homeland Security, human trafficking is “modern-day slavery and involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act.” The victims of this crime in the U.S. are men and women, adults and children, foreign nationals and U.S. citizens. Victims are of all genders, ages, races, countries and socioeconomic statuses.

“The horrors of human trafficking remain largely hidden but are often very prevalent in our communities,” said Erica Rodgers, Director for Youth for Human Rights International’s US National Office in Washington, DC. “Putting an end to human trafficking starts with acknowledging its existence and gaining the skills to properly recognize and report it.”

As human trafficking is an issue that touches every community, including cities, suburbs and rural towns, Youth for Human Rights International’s National Office is launching an initiative to help prevent it in local communities through human trafficking training.

At the training attendees will learn:

• What human trafficking is and how it classifies as modern-day slavery and a human rights abuse.

• How to recognize potential red flags and know the indicators of human trafficking.

• How to safely report victims, helping them find the assistance they need while keeping yourself safe.

The training will take place from 2-4 pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at the Church of Scientology National Affairs Office in the Fraser Mansion, 1701 20th Street NW, Washington, DC, 20009. Those interested in attending can do so by going to: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/human-trafficking-training-tickets-87722880497.

Furthermore Youth for Human Rights International has been working to prevent human trafficking on a national and international level for over a decade. Raising awareness of human rights is the necessary undercut to this and so many other human rights issues. Article four of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.”

To read all of the human rights as listed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights go to: http://www.un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights/ or for descriptive videos of each of the 30 human rights go to https://www.youthforhumanrights.org.

About Youth for Human Rights:
